From Our Executive Director’s Desk
The way we move is changing.
Human innovation will allow us to move people, goods and services without a pilot and operating with zero emissions in a few short years. Innovation alone won't help governments and regulators find a safe, sustainable and inclusive pathway to bring this industry to life. Our new industry needs a way to catalyze our collective efforts around a shared vision that connects Canada and the world through the future of flight.
Let's lift everyone up together.
About the Advanced Air Mobility Industry
Advanced Air Mobility(AAM) is globally recognized as the next frontier of aviation. AAM encompasses the movement of people, goods and services in urban and regional settings. People use the words Urban Air Mobility (UAM) and Regional Air Mobility (RAM) often, though AAM encompasses both and builds upon the recent development of electric battery and hydrogen fuel cell technologies to create an aircraft that operates with zero emissions. This technology can help people in rural areas get needed prescription medication, allow people to commute between neighbouring cities, or even transport produce into much needed remote communities. Commercial transportation using large remotely piloted aircraft is already occurring in Canada today. AAM aircraft carrying people may occur in both Canada and the USA as early as 2024, requiring governments, industry and researchers to collaborate effectively in order to manage the implementation of this new technology.
Canadian Advanced Air Mobility (CAAM) is a Federal Not For Profit organization that is helping structure what sustainable air transportation will look like in Canada. We've partnered with over 50 member organizations ranging from industry, investors, infrastructure and academia as well as all three levels of Canadian government to launch projects aimed at getting the Advanced Air Mobility industry off the ground. Our goal is to create a national Advanced Air Mobility strategy for Canada while implementing regionally relevant business use cases. CAAM was founded in partnership with Canada's leading federal research and development organization, the National Research Council of Canada (NRC). Together, CAAM and the NRC, collaborate with Transport Canada and NAV Canada to create the clearest path for connecting Canada and the world through the future of flight.
CAAM is the catalyst for the new Advanced Air Mobility industry in Canada.
