The Pulse – February 2025

The Pulse – December 2024
In the December 2024 edition of The Pulse, powered by Edmonton International Airport (YEG) – We wrapped up the year with updates regarding SFAR and RPAS Traffic Management Trials from the FAA and NAV CANADA at the final AAM Town Hall of 2024. The CAAM 2.0 Membership model is now fully launched, offering advocacy, networking, and global trade trip access. New initiatives like INSAT and H2CanFly are driving sustainable aviation in Canada. A Canadian delegation trip to California AAM OEMs is set for January 2025. Plus, we welcome CS Group Canada as our newest member.

The Pulse – September 2024
In the September 2024 edition of The Pulse, powered by Edmonton International Airport (YEG) – Adam Bakos and Josué Morissette from Transport Canada discussed aircraft certification streamlining and RPAS Traffic Management Trials. We welcomed new board members from Unither Bioélectronique and BETA TECHNOLOGIES and introduced the CAAM 2.0 Membership model. Edmonton International Airport expanded its drone delivery program, and we celebrated our collaboration with ICAO at AAM 2024. Plus, a Canadian delegation trip to California’s AAM OEMs is planned for 2025.

The Pulse – June 2024
In the June 2024 edition of The Pulse – Adil Chaudhry from Transport Canada discussed the agency’s aviation safety program, certification process, and strategies for advanced air mobility (AAM) and eVTOL technologies. Alan Chapman from NAV CANADA presented on RPAS Traffic Management, detailing current capabilities and future phases. The International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) seeks input from VTOL OEMs for developing safety standards. The newsletter also highlights funding opportunities for Canadian organizations at the AIRTAXI World Congress, and the GoAERO Prize competition for VTOL emergency response aircraft.

The Pulse – March 2024
In the March 2024 edition of The Pulse – Transport Canada is establishing the Advisory Committee on the Future of Aviation (ACFA) to discuss policy issues on RPAS and Advanced Air Mobility (AAM), building on the Canadian Drone Advisory Committee’s work. Following consultations on Beyond Visual Line-of-Sight (BVLOS) regulations, Transport Canada released a “What We Heard Report” summarizing feedback on proposed fees and training requirements. The Initiative for Sustainable Aviation Technology (INSAT), backed by a $350 million investment, aims to support sustainable aviation technologies in Canada. Updates include Sealand Flight’s integration of electric aircraft into training and the CAAM 2.0 initiative to operationalize AAM in Canada.
