We’re pleased to welcome Sterling Agility/Sterling Compliance to the Canadian Advanced Air Mobility (CAAM) member ecosystem. Based in Toronto and led by Principal Consultant Ajay Gupta, Sterling Agility/Sterling Compliance brings deep expertise, inter alia, in global logistics, international trade compliance, contract security, and operational process development.
As Advanced Air Mobility moves closer to commercialization, these capabilities will become increasingly important as growing companies will need 
to navigate the movement of technologies, components, technical information, and services across borders.

Decades of Aerospace, Defence, and Logistics Experience
Sterling Agility/Sterling Compliance is led by Ajay Gupta, an aerospace and defence trade compliance and global logistics executive with more than 30 years of experience, inter alia, leading trade compliance, logistics, operations, and contract security teams.
Ajay’s connection to aviation began early in his career, when he spent ten years as a junior airline executive at Air India. That experience gave him familiarity with the international aviation ecosystem and organizations including ICAO and IATA before his career expanded into aerospace and defence trade compliance, global logistics, contract security, and operational leadership.
His experience includes serving as a Designated Official under Canada’s Defence Production Act, Senior Manager of International Trade Compliance at Pratt & Whitney Canada and Collins Aerospace Canada, as well as being recently appointed to the Board of Directors of Supply Chain Canada, where his experience, inter alia, in defence trade compliance, contract security, and global logistics education will contribute to the organization’s work across Canada.
An Often-Overlooked Part of Scaling AAM
For emerging aviation companies, international trade compliance can sometimes be viewed as something to address later, or as an issue primarily affecting large aerospace and defence organizations.
Ajay has long challenged that assumption.
Trade controls can apply well beyond physical exports. Depending on the technology, jurisdiction, customer, and end use, considerations can extend to technical information, components, foreign nationals, intermediaries, and international supply chains.
For AAM companies, these questions can become increasingly important as programs expand beyond domestic development into international partnerships and commercialization.
